Logo design practice sheet

practice sheet
Logo design practice sheet

Project Description: In this project I practiced and messed around with different ways that letters and shapes interact with each other. Examples of such that were used in the practice sheet were stacked text, figure ground reversal, ligatures, and letters as an object. We had to make at least 4 of each of those types.

New Skills and Processes used: Some new things I learned through doing this practice sheet were the divide button in the pathfinder window, the white sub-selection tool, the trace view mode, the trace feature and a little about grouping and un-grouping. I know I will use these techniques will be useful in future projects I do.

Self Reflection: I think that I did very well on this and it was not all that challenging. The part that I had the most trouble with was the figure ground reversal last 2 pictures. It was hard to use the positive and negative colors while still keeping it looking like a letter. Other than that it wasn't too hard, but it just took a little time to do.

Part/Project: 10/10: I think I worked very well on this and did not get distracted by other things and I did more than 4 of the figure ground reversals and 2 of my letters as an object had all pictures in them to make up the word.

days 8-12 practice sheet

days 8-12
Project Description: This is my practice sheet for days 8-12 on the crash course tutorials on www.vectordiary.com. In this I learned how to use the pathfinder window along with all the things inside of it. I explored transparency and also go to play around with gradients and fills.
new skills:
  • how to cut things out
  • how to add shapes
  • all the different blending modes
  • styles for shapes
  • transparency
  • different brush strokes and brushes
  • Tools: square, circle, brush (all the options and windows that go along with those)

self reflection: This was a good tutorial to help me learn all these new skills. Throughout the year I know I will be using these tool and techniques such as gradient and brush strokes. Also the caps and different caps I put on the end of the lines and the stars makes more of a difference than I thought. Overall I though I worked well on it and it was interesting to learn.

part/project: 10/10 I gave myself a 10/10 because i worked well on this. The whole time I was in class I was working on this and I did all the things for my practice sheet that were required.

Rocket ship

rocket ship
Project Description: In this project I learned how to make a simple rocket ship in adobe illustrator. I think mine turned out good and if anyone wants to see the line for the tutorial for this it is http://www.denisdesigns.com/. It took only about 10 minutes and I enjoyed learning about how to make shadows.

New Skills:
  • Learning to cut out with shapes and expand
  • Gradients
  • Making shadows
  • Tools: pen, gradient, oval, Square
Self Reflection: I enjoyed this project very much as well. I think mine turned out good and I know that I will use the skills I learned making this in future projects. The flame also had to have been the hardest part of the project for me. It took me many tries to finally get it to look like a flame, but I eventually got it.

Part/Project: 10/10 I think I worked great on this project and there are not any major problems with the picture of the rocket ship that I made.

Illustrator Tutorials days 1-5 practice

days 1-5
This the practice sheet I did for My days 1-5 in the illustrator tutorials. The Key was the hardest part of doing all the practice.

Project Description: This is my practice sheet from the days 1-5 on Vectordiary.com. I learned how to make different shapes and figures using the shape, pencil, and pen tools. Also on Mrboothby.net he said what we had to include in our practice sheet. Some of those things were stars squares puzzle pieces and keys. This was also made by using adobe illustrator.
This is the link for where I learned to do this: www.vectordiary.com

New skills, Processes and Tools learned:

  • How to use the pen tool
  • How to make shapes with the pen tool
  • how to use the pencil tool
  • how to make curves
  • Pencil, Zoom, and pen tools were used
  • one process used was the adjusting the line curve after adding points with the pen tool
The shape tools: circle, star, square, oval, rectangle

Self Reflection: I had a lot of fun with this project. The easy stuff came naturally to me just as the squares and circles that had to pen made, but the hardest part of this had to be using the pen tool by far. As you can see in my picture I had a lot of trouble with the pen tool. My rabbit looks like a messed up dog and the bird isn't that close looking to a bird. However, I had already finished my practice sheet by the time I was told about using the transparency feature and tracing it. I have figured that out to and I will be posting a better version of the rabbit and the other more complicated shapes.

Part/project: 9/10: I gave myself 9/10 instead of 10/10 just because all my shapes are a little sloppy However I didn't know how to use the trace feature by the time I finished so I think I deserve a break for that. Other than that I think I worked well and deserve this as my participation grade.
